How AI Empowers Community Based Eye Screening in Low Resource Areas (Armenian Eye Care Project – Roger Ohanesian MD, Nune Yeghiazaryan, MA, MPA, Ph.D.)

Diabetes is a national public health threat in Armenia, and a lack of resources, public awareness, and specialists has been a barrier to effective diabetic eye screening programs.

The Armenian EyeCare Project, in conjunction with the Armenian Ministry of Health and the World Diabetes Foundation, began a nationwide program to improve geographic and financial access to diabetes-related eye care, increase the capacity of medical professionals, and enhance diabetes-related advocacy.

In this webinar, learn about how the EyeArt system for automated diabetic retinopathy detection enabled the Armenian EyeCare Project’s screening program to conduct automated eye exams in the field (including imaging and diagnosis) without the need for ophthalmologists.
