The American Medical Association Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) Editorial Panel created CPT code 92229 (Imaging of retina for detection or monitoring of disease; with point-of-care automated analysis with diagnostic report; unilateral or bilateral) that uses innovative artificial intelligence technology to perform the interpretation of the eye exam, without requiring that an ophthalmologist interpret the results.
